Thai Delight, Authentic Thai Cusine in Old MesillaSince it opened in June of 2008, Thai Delight has become a true local favorite for Southern New Mexico. With its new location in Old Mesilla, Thai Delight is easily accessible. Owner Tom Feldt fulfilled a life-long dream by opening Thai Delight. The restaurant offers casual dining in a decor of Thailand and rustic New Mexico.  About TomTom was born in Thailand in a small city of 7000 called Ta-key. He learned to appreciate the cusines of Thailand from his dad, uncles and many cousins. He came to the US at the age of 16 with his mother Siri. During his early employment, Tom worked in several restaurants and served as Chef at the Smugglers Inn in Biloxi, Mississippi. Tom joined the USs Army and spent a career in the Field Artillery and Infantry with a Personnel MOS. His service included tours of duty in Germany, Kosovo, Kuwait and Iraq. He retired as a Seargeant First Class. ChallengesOne of the challenges Tom faced when opening an authentic Thai restaurant was to find both the ingredients needed and a kitchen staff to help wiht the food preparation. Many of his Thai ingredients are sourced and shipped from Tucson, Albuquerque, and other major cities. Tom used his years of leadership from Sugglers Inn and the Airmy to train Key people in authentic Thai food preparation. |
 Customer's Favorites DishesThai Delight's signature dish is "Shrimp Thai Delight". Other customer favorites are Pad Thai, Red Curry, Green Curry and Panang Curry and Thai Fried Rice. Tom is surprised at how knowledgeable the Las Cruces population is about curries and Thai food in general. Tom has a good selection of sndwiches, steaks, seafood, and salads for those that might prefer other than Thai dishes. On Sunday a breakfast menu and a wide selection of omelets are served all day.
